Life Teaches the Lessons, I Share What They Cost Me to Learn
I write about business, leadership, integrity, relationships, and personal growth, through stories from my life , the farm, the workplace, and everywhere in between.
I am Sam Phelps (Samuel Phelps) I’m not a guru. I’m not a self proclaimed motivational speaker. I’m someone who has lived through hard lessons, and paid attention.
I grew up in Utah working on dairy farms, learned leadership in families and teams, built businesses, made mistakes, and discovered that success means nothing if it costs you who you are.
This site exists to share what those experiences taught me.
Not theory.
Not hype.
Just truth learned the hard way.

What I Write About
Integrity
The moments when doing the right thing costs you something, and why it’s still worth it.
Leadership
What actually builds trust, and what quietly destroys it.
Business
Lessons from building, failing, learning, and trying again.
Relationships
What creates real trust, security, and connection.
Personal Growth
The habits and mindset that shape who you become.
Why This Exists
When I was young, I worked on a dairy farm. In the winter, before sunrise in the freezing cold.
I’d run from the warm barn to the corrals to feed the cows, then run back to thaw my frozen feet under hot water before going out again.
That pattern repeated over and over.
What I didn’t realize then was that life would follow the same pattern: periods of warmth and clarity, followed by moments where I would step back out into the cold.
This site is about what I learned during those trips into the cold, and what brought me back.
What I Believe
I believe success and integrity can and should coexist.
I believe leadership starts long before you have a title.
I believe the hardest lessons are often the most valuable.
I believe sharing those lessons helps others avoid learning them the hard way.
If These Lessons Resonate, You Can Follow Along.
I share new stories and insights weekly and as I learn them.
